Industry: Oil & Energy
Additional Information
Tom Tribone began his professional career in 1974 as a chemical engineer, and rapidly began working his way up through various management positions in oil and power companies. When he was appointed the youngest general manager of Atlantic Richfield company, Tribone demonstrated through his leadership methods that modern management thinking could be applied even in highly unionized environments, where labor and management conflicts were taken for granted. Tom Tribone's core idea centered around the observation that the individuals who were closest to a given activity knew best how to perform it, and that light-handed executive guidance combined with a team approach would allow the greatest number of workers to approach the highest level of satisfaction and achievement (what Maslow called self-actualization). Tom Tribone built on what he had accomplished at ARCO when he joined a start-up company, AES Corporation, in 1982. Tribone was a prime mover in building AES from a start-up into the largest power company in the world. In his book, What America Does Right, noted business author Robert Waterman devotes a chapter to Mr. Tribone’s management ideas, noting his unique methods and personal successes.
Currently, Tom Tribone is the founder and CEO of Guggenheim Global Infrastructure Company. He has initiated and completed transactions valued at over $30 billion. Thomas Tribone's worldwide energy and infrastructure company now plays an influential role in helping to meet the world’s need for such resources and services to support economic growth.
